MAN OF THE DAY: JERRY VERSCHOOR

Meet Jerry, a former animator of Disney and Dreamworks and also a great Aussie pal of mine who had actually been involved in several animated projects such as The Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, The Adventures of Winny the Pooh and The Thief and the Cobbler (he was only an in-betweener, by the way). We first met in Multimedia University in Malaysia a few years ago and since then, he had taught me and my entire class how to create decent animation, given us some inspiring notes on how some of the finest animated classics change the face of the world, etc. That's how he changes the way I perceive things as well as my perspective on cartooning and filmmaking. Some time after he left the university (aside from other projects he conceived and directed in Malaysia), he went on to animate sequences in Blinky Bill in Australia and then later to China to do the same favorite stuff, this time with his Chinese animator friend! (That's what he currently looks like as shown in this picture: he regains his groovy 80s style by letting his hair grow! Wow!) He also has set up his own website called Jerry's Website Live (http://www.users.bigpond.com/cortina/jerry.htm). Filled with actual sketches for the movies, never-seen-before personal artworks and poems, fans of animation will definitely want to know more about this awesome guy!- Glen! Posted by Hello
